Hiking - Walking: Martlesham Creek Wind Direction: ne Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: 3 Sea Temperature: Weather: cloudy Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Decided not to go to do the round Hayling Island windsurf race - too cold
:( so Mag and I backed a picnic and headed to Martlesham Creek for a walk
:) Sadly we left it a bit late and by the time we got there at about 12:30
the sun had disappeared :( It didn't stop us and we headed off through the
wood along the muddy path to Martlesham church then down to the River Deben
at Kyson Point as a marsh harrier circled above :) We past a farmer
planting his potatoe crop and watched for awhile before heading down river
toward Waldringfield, sadly the path had been eroded away after about a
mile so we stopped under a tree for our picnic and even had a few flakes of
snow, we have missed spring out this year completely !!! and it's nearly
British summertime - it's not looking good as this cold weather going to
last at least another week :( With the food gone we walked back along the
Deben and up Martlesham Creek to the van as several ducks and waders were
feeding as the tide dropped :) So we are pleased to have made the effort to
get out as we haven't walked much this year. We made the mistake of
stopping at the Martlesham Tesco for eggs and diesel along with have of
Suffolk !!! we checked out the cliff top in Felixstowe and the conditions
looked good for windsurfing perhaps I will be brave enough to try this
Monday as the forecast looks okay apart from the 5 degree bit !!!
